Dean and Deluca – food porn – New York – To Close

Dean and DeLuca would be one of my favourite places to visit in New York. I have several well worn gadgets from previous visits.

I would love a collection of their little silver tins of spices…I hovered in front of the Dill Weed tin for several minutes, but then could’nt work out, one what to do with it and then whether Border Force would let me keep it.

Drop in for a coffee, not too bad …. or some lunch or take out for dinner. Grab yourself lime juicer, an olive spoon and fork. Or just take in a bit of food porn…..

This is a post I did on a trip Anon and I took to New York in 2017…. this is what the news is saying about the store this week..TOO SAD!

Within the past week, stores in Napa, California, and New York have closed. Dean & DeLuca’s new pilot cafeteria-style restaurant, Stage, is in the process of closing, according to the New York Times. (It’s expected to reopen elsewhere.) Reports of rapidly emptying shelves at some of the U.S. locations, including one in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown area, suggest that more closures are imminent, though representatives for the company told Eater on July 10 that there are no plans for additional store closings “at this time.” On July 11, the company’s website was taken down for several hours and returned with locations listing that reflected only seven remaining stores (international stores are no longer listed) and without its online shop.

Dean & DeLuca’s vendors — bakeries and patisseries that supplied many of the store’s pricey gourmet breads, cakes, and cookies — were the first to sound the death knell of the chain. The New York Times reported at least four New York vendors, including Bien Cuit and Eleni’s Cookies, were owed tens of thousands of dollars. And for months, small businesses have turned to social media to complain about the company’s outstanding debts.

560 Broadway, New York.

  1. How sad. An iconic New York experience looks to be at an end. Loved it. And had to wait very very patiently while a certain snapper browsed the wares and captured the spirit.

  2. Dean and Deluca one of my best memories and loves of NY from my first trip……holy hell, When was that? 1973……
