A small parcel of land next to the Wallawwa hotel has been turned over to the Estate manager, Nimal Fernando to grow organic produce for the hotel. This has made it almost self sustaining, with the freshest produce possible. The excess produce is sold at market and the profits put back into the development of the Gardens.
Nimal who has worked all over the world for various 5 star hotels, has a great love and knowledge of horticulture, and is rightly very proud of the vegetable gardens. He also overseas the incredibly beautiful gardens that surround the Wallawwa that help make it such a sanctuary.
