The Statement earring re-emerges …. but did it really ever leave? I like to buy earrings when we travel, its a wonderful way to buy a small ( I didn’t say inexpensive ) item to remind of the place and fabulous experiences.
The ones above I found in a store in Seville, Spain. The store supplied the flamenco dancers. The ones below – are not mine – but can be found at Anne Schofield.
The Statement earring doesn’t have to be expensive I found some very reasonably priced ones at South King Street Daisy Retro/BowerbirdVintage and even Zara can have a good range.
The fashion world is making an effort to get with the programme and get its house(s) in order: the latest cover of Vogue features key workers as opposed to supermodels and influencers, and French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus photographed his summer 2020 campaign on his grandma. How refreshing to see these relaxed, unretouched images of grandma Liline (BELOW) wearing very little makeup, simple clothes and statement earrings. As the restrictions loosen and we rapidly return to business as normal (whatever that maybe), I’m hoping that this democratic approach continues.
Bringing on the bling is exactly what is needed, right now. And, not just for Zoom meetings. I’ve always thought that statement earrings are an easy way to make an everyday outfit extraordinary.
