Airbnb home in Condesa, Mexico City, Mexico trip Jan 17 © Lorrie Graham

This was our Airbnb home in Condesa for 2 weeks. Built in 1896 this charming light filled house was a wonderful place to return to after full and hectic days in Mexico City. Julianna our host could not have been more warm and helpful. It had good WiFi here I have added the charming description on the Airbnb site.

It is an old house remodeled with the best taste. The refurbishment was based on research design and architecture of the era and the area in which it includes restoring some elements of the period and adding other contemporaries.

The kitchen is old, retains the old stove while it is fully equipped with modern stove, refrigerator, microwave oven and even molcajetes for traditional cuisine. The main floor is the social area or living space, it features double height and is very bright.

The lobby serves as distributor and articulates the main floor and the stairs leading to the private quarters. The main floor consists of living room, kitchen, dining room, studio with loft and an old bathroom. This bath conserves the old tub and retains original house heater also has a monumental crystal chandelier with 24 lights. Lamps and chandeliers restored accentuate the high altitudes of the house.

The private apartments have a bedroom, a sitting room, a dressing room and an elegant bathroom. This suite bathroom, include a contemporary tub to the original and bidet and a washbasin from the 40's.

From the porch, deck or main entrance, exits a staircase leading to the roof where you can wash and have a sunbathing. The vegetation that surrounds it, the thickness of the walls and the location into an alley, guarantee an unexpected silence on such a busy area of Colonia Condesa.
