Neil Perry's Blood orange, lime and ginger granita recipe

This Neil Perry Blood orange, lime and ginger granita recipe is so easy I can make it. I’ve always run a mile from things like ice creams and semifreedos but this recipe is very simple. The only issue is….we are getting to end of the blood orange season…so run grab a bag if you can.

6 blood oranges, juiced ( about 400 ml )
1 lime, juiced, strained
1 small knob of ginger ( about 20 g )
4 tbs castor sugar
250g strawberries, halved
the odd raspberry .

1. Whisk the blood orange, lime and ginger juices together with the sugar until the sugar dissolves.

2. Pour the mixture into a shallow metal tray and freeze until firm ( about 3 hours )

3. Remove the tray from freezer and break with a fork to form the granita. Serve immediately, or refreeze until read to eat. Serve with the halved strawberries and the odd raspberry.

see simple….

  1. This has to be one of the best summer deserts ever. Refreshing and cleansing and tastes delicious. The ginger lingers as an aftertaste.

Run out and buy heaps of blood oranges and juice and freeze. Ready for the Australian summer fruits and berries.
