Lunch with Chris – Totti’s – Bondi Road, Bondi

Back to old habits and delights, lunch with Chris. We were heading to a fab Columbian restaurant called El Indio at Bondi Beach that my friend Tina Brand has reviewed and that sounds wonderful but they only open for dinner.

Chris suggested one of the Merivale restaurants called Totti's up the road from the beach and out the back of the The Royal pub - one of the roughest pub's I remember from an earlier life - Of course the eatery has had the Merivale treatment and is now a sun drenched delightful place for a light Italian lunch and a bit of people watching.

Headed up by Mike Eggert of the much-loved Dirty Italian Disco pop-up, and Khan Danis, one of the best wood-fire chefs in the country, Totti’s is all about enjoying simple, delicious food.

The puff ball of wood fired bread is worth the trip alone. The menu is made for sharing, so we had the pickled octopus and a couple of light salads, Chris tried one of the organic Rosé and I saved those calories so I could try the nectarine tart.

I imagine this place is rocks on a summery weekend but it was quiet and a delightful way to catch up with a great mate.
