Lunch with Chris – Olio – Kensington St.

Its been a while……… Chris and I met up for lunch at the new hub of restaurants at Kensington St, Chippendale.

We decided to try Olio, a Sicilian restaurant, because we both want to go to Sicily, and this might be as close as we get for a bit.

The street is worth a look there are many new eateries clustered here plus it looks like a good mix of price points and styles.

Olio is on the third floor, the room is simple and sun drenched. Fish is the specialty of the house.

We started with the Grilled Calamari al Limone to share., lovely.

Then moved onto Strozzapreti – homemade squid ink pasta with spanner crab, with Duja pepper sauce and Bucatini wide spaghetti with saffron, fresh sardines, wild fennel, raisins and pine nuts.

Both tasted a lot better than they looked. The side of beans, were a little over cooked, we thought.

The staff were very sweet, but we had a lot of trouble understanding what they were saying…maybe they had just arrived from Sicily.

Worth a visit…………..
