If you are heading down the Hume to Melbourne, I personally love a road trip. Here is a wonderful tip …. If you time your trip, say leaving Sydney at 9am you could be pulling into the Long Track Pantry for a very fabulous lunch at 12.30. I’m not sure what the timing would be coming the other way. BUT STOP.
The Long Track Pantry is a country food store and cafe in the riverside village of Jugiong in Southern N.S.W. about 70 kms south of Yass owned by local girl Juliet Robb. The store is jam packed with home-made relishes, preserves, chutney ….. with a tasteing platter. The Cafe is open for Breakfast and lunch – closed on Tues or as my sister-in-law Jules calls it …. dull Tuesday
Also if you are heading to Melbourne or parts south for a wedding it has great kitchenware and gifts for sale….plus regular cooking classes. There is a wonderful fruit and veg stall next door. The village of Jugiong is not very big but it is very beautiful.
