In Conversation, Margaret Mead and James Baldwin

Baldwin and Mead

This is another extraordinary find from the ‘Brainpickings” site.

In 1970 in New York City Margaret Mead then 70 years old sat on a stage with the Poet James Baldwin for seven and hours for a conversation about identity, power, privilege race gender and beauty it became the book “Rap on Race”.

This link is from the book called “reimagining Democracy for a Post Consumerist future”. Worth a read given the election campaign we find ourselves in.

Quote worth noting….” We’ve got to be clear-headed about human beings as possible, because we are still each other’s only hope”
