Hotel Nacional – Havana, Cuba

Well this is like the Cuban Eiffel Tower when it comes to pulling the tourist crowd. The history of the place is hard to beat…a must visit even it its just to add your name to this list…..

Nelson Rockefeller, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Sir Alexander Flemming, Arturo de Cordova, Agustín Lara Brothers Iturbide, Ferruccio Burco, Pedro Armendáriz, Spencer Tracy, Marlon Brando, Pablo Casal, Lucho Gatica, John Wayne, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Leopoldo and Baudouin of Belgium, Walt Disney, Sara Montiel, the Chavales of Spain, Libertad Lamarque, Porfirio Rubirosa, Esther Borja, Lola Flores.

It also has a room, not unlike those rooms where you could make overseas calls in the Old Old days that has strong Wi Fi ….for a hefty fee……but the cocktails are as good as ever!

  1. I have to say that the photograph’s greatly enhance the actuality of this somewhat crumbling edifice. And yes, the lure of a bar with publicly available WiFi (at huge costs) was strong, but sadly it was a bar without anything but a Mountain Dew lemonade equivalent, Cuban style.

That said, the ambience, and the cocktails at the outside terrace were fabulous, and a ‘must do’ in Havana.
