Home in Trastevere

We made our home, while staying in Rome, in the area called Trastevere. So called because it lies across the River Tiber.

Trastevere was once the bohemian quarter of Rome. Although it still has an arty edge, it is now largely home to well-heeled expats.

The area comes alive at night, when its café fill up with locals and tourists.

Most of the major sites of Rome, Ancient Rome and the Vatican can be walked to from Trastevere. At night the various Piazzas come alive with musicians and live acts and by day they overflow with local markets and produce.

We loved staying here.
