Go overseas … and walk on North Head

Well that would be overseas if you live on the south side. Last friday a small gathering from Newtown - dress code: navy and black - travelled overseas and walked the tracks of North Head.

The heath-covered clifftops at North Head reveal unending ocean views and a spectacular panorama of the harbour and Sydney skyline. Situated on the northern-most edge of the harbour within sight of Hornby Lighthouse on South Head.

We took a relaxing ferry ride from Circular Quay had a coffee at Fairybower before setting off to discover the various tracks on North Head and surrounds.

Another coffee at the Bella Vista Cafe ( open for takeaways only on the day) after we had reached Fairfax lookout. If you feel you have earned a larger lunch you might like to check out Boilerhouse Kitchen and Bar closer to the Quarantine Station.

We headed back to the wharf and had a pub lunch at Wharf Bar, I'd recommend their tuna poke bowl....others went for a bowl of chips.

  1. Wish I had come for that walk … looks terrific. Amazing walks can be found all around Sydney, particularly the coastlines and harbour foreshores. Makes you wonder just how beautiful this Sydney coast and harbour would have been in its natural state before development. Spectacular now ….. imagine 250 years ago ….
