Genovese Coffee House – Alexandria

This lush new coffee house is a wonderful addition to the hood. Adam Genovese, owner of the newly opened Genovese Coffee House - well the hood is Alexandria but close enough - this is the first cafe for his family's 50-year-old Melbourne coffee-roasting business and decades-long wholesaler in Sydney, says drinking at the espresso bar is a heightened quick fix.

Maybe catching the locals on their way to work...

In the long-standing tradition of Italian bars, both brews come in a cup and saucer, you drink it without a chair and the cost is less than a sit-down equivalent.

Genovese's rather glamorous 1900s warehouse space... it used to be Pet barn...houses a gleaming roaster, its spacious, calm and wood and brick lined fit-out. Floor to ceiling linen curtains in a dusty pink, the seats are olive and cream stripe and the light fittings of brass, glass or ceramic.

The food menu, divided into breakfast, lunch paninis, afternoon focaccia and a weekend deli plate, is simple, carefully curated. We had to try the rich ricotta cannoli and the coffee well..you'll just have go and try it for yourself.

Thanks for this wonderful find Lilli X
