Be a Tourist at home and shop in Chinatown

Be a tourist at home and do your Christmas shopping in Chinatown.

This week Tina and I divvy up the shopping so head over to izzyhaveyoueaten for the food buys … I’ll run you through the rest.

For the big kids … Melewah Jewellery in Sussex Street has a 50% off sale and their pearls are definitely worth a look. Around the corner in Dixon Street all things to amuse and delight the little kids at Morning Glory. For that relative that loves bling the Ugg store, over the road, have that covered.

Just before lunch, on our shopping adventure, Lesley Crawford and Pam Easton joined us, who better to direct us to the right shops for a bit of fashion… check out these two, Zenith and Pieces

If you are looking for homewares Doong Nam A and Co have wonderful plates and teapots also Thai Kee IGA over the road in Market City have aisles of homewares. Pick up some Durian ice cream while your there.

Market City is also the home of the outlets stores, Converse, Typo for pens and computer bags, Fila – where I picked up my pair of ugly sandals for 50 dollars. Bonds, Crumper, Foot Locker….bargains bargains bargains.

Don’t leave without picking up something for good luck from one of the little Chiness hole-in-the- wall shops over flowing with trinkets.

Art installation by Lindy Lee.

  1. I had the best time staying in Great Southern Hotel in Chinatown during the year of working at the Powerhouse Museum on Step into Paradise exhibition. Yum Cha for breakfast is the best and great shopping !!!
