If I could suggest one thing to do before you visit Fez it would be to get your hands on this book.
We met up with Australian journalists Suzanna Clarke and Sandy McCutcheon on our first night in Fez and wish I had read Suzanna wonderful account of buying a dilapidated house in the Fez Medina – the house an Arab-style riad – and then restoring it.
The book will give a wonderful insight into Moroccan culture, the-day-to-day rhythms customs and festivals – the couple have embraced the life in this ancient city with such enthusiasm that you will be out searching the medina for your very own Riad.
