We stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks. It is an AirBNB, but I suspect is not lived in by the owner and rented as part of a small business. It is in The Marais on Rue Rambuteau just around the corner from the Pompidou Centre. So central it really is a walk to most of the major sights. The apartment is on the third floor with windows that open toward Rue Rambuteau. During our stay the entire length of Rue Rambuteau had been torn up and was being paved …. So at times a little noisy …… it would be wonderful now – finished.
The street has a number of boulangerie – leave the windows open overnight and be woken in the morning by the smell of freshly baked bread. A supermaché is just below the apartment with very reasonably priced wine, the fruit and vegetable shop next door will inflate the price the minute a word of English is uttered – best to walk a few extra blocks to the local market, Le Marché des Enfants Rouges – this will have its own blog – but you can buy what ever you need in the block below the apartment….flowers, books, meat, there are several small cafes and three restaurants. A choice of four metro stations in different directions, two swimming pools within half a kilometre and several cinemas.
The apartment has everything you could possibly want…we only noticed the television had cable the day we were leaving. The washing machine and the ONE BIG MAN lift the most welcome. The process of getting in and out of the apartment was seamless, but read the small print if you arrive late at night or very early in the morning there is an extra 50 euro fee. We would definitely stay here again.
