Moulay Indriss – Morocco

Our friend, Sue Bail, has made it possible for us to spend the night in Moulay Indriss at Scorpian House. The wonderful home of Mike Richardson – this will have its own blog –

This is just a tiny taste of the town which is pretty and relaxed, with a centre free of carpet shops and traffic.

Moulay Indriss is the holiest place in Morocco and not until 2005 have non muslims been permitted to stay overnight.

A place of huge skies and dramatic views and named after the great grandson of prophet Mohammed, Morocco’s most revered saint, and the founder of the country’s first real dynasty.

His tomb can be found at the centre of the town, so this is the focus of the country’s largest moussem every August.
